Hit the Swamp with Maritime Archeologist Stephanie Sterling

Stephanie Sterling was born in Omaha, Nebraska and was raised by her Jamaican immigrant mom. Stephanie's love for art and the outdoors drew her to a storied career spanning continents and cultures as an anthropology major, who now studies maritime archaeology. Stephanie is a certified diving master and archaeologist who is passionate about the history of enslaved Africans in the Americas. She is currently a graduate student at East Carolina University working on her thesis which investigates how enslaved Africans found spaces of freedom along rice plantation waterways in the rural south.
